Bathroom Tile Design

Easy Bathroom Tile Design Ideas

Choosing Tile Flooring for Your Bath

Bathroom remodels don't have to be complicated as long as you follow some guidelines. This is one project that can be done without hiring outside help but you do have to devote some time and effort to the design.

Tiling a bathroom or a shower is one way to add new life to a space that may need a facelift. If you are interested in a unique bathroom tile design then you should visit your local hardware store and do some searching online to find the color and style of tile that you would like to use.

Maybe you want to do a mosaic design or a more structured scheme with one color. Once you have chosen the tiles you like best it will then be time to purchase the materials to get the project rolling.

To begin a bathroom remodel where you will be putting in new floors, the toilet and old floors will have to be removed. If there is adhesive left on the floor from the old flooring this will need to be scraped off with a putty knife so that the surface is smooth and flat for the new tile. It is smart to do a layout with the tile prior to putting down the mortar.

This way there won't be any surprises when it comes time to permanently lay the tile. Some tiles, depending on the shape of the bathroom, may need to be cut with a wet saw so that they fit perfectly with the edges of the room. Once the bathroom tile design is decided on, you can begin mixing the mortar.

If you want the project to go a little faster then a quick setting, thin-set mortar will be what you want to use. If you have time to work on the project and are less experienced, a regular, thin-set mortar will be the better option. This is because it will give you more time to work with and more room for error.

You will need a trowel with a notched and flat edge to spread the mortar onto the floor. The flat edge places the mortar on the floor and the notched edge is used to spread the mortar across the surface.

Use a spacer in between each tile to achieve a uniform look. If you choose to hire a contractor, do research to know what the standard fees will be in your area. It's no fun to get taken advantage of. Other ways to complete a small bathroom remodeling project is to update the wall cabinets, faucets and mirrors.

When redoing the sink nothing spells quality like well-known Moen faucets and they have a large range of styles to choose from in different price ranges.

If you have a small space and are short on room then installing wall cabinets can be a huge space saver. Adding mirrors to coordinate with the design style you have chosen is another way to add a new look to your new bathroom design.

Have fun, don't stress out and plan before you start working so that you will have a pleasant design experience with your bath room tile designs!
